​This three movement work captures the celebratory spirit of the  American Plains Indians. The soltice ceremony was usually
​ a four to eight day rite that included ceremonial pipe smoking, drumming, and singing.  Summer soltice was a time for sharing experiences, visits, and fasting.  "Soltice" reflects this spirit of blessings, rebirth, and renewal.  Mr. McDowell has created an outstanding recital performance work that will challenge advanced college and professional quartets.
